The first photo showed up on my Explore feed this morning. Repeatedly. When I finally clicked it, I realized just what was happening.

Politics aside, Regis Crolla’s page truly woke me up. Saying that people are dead and knowing that their lives are over -be it from this aircraft getting shot down or those losing their lives in Israel’s war on Palestine- are both incredibly different experiences than being able to see the life that has been lost.

The last two years of this young man’s beautiful life is chronicled on a social media site. We are all able to witness what was lost for the rest of our lives. That is powerful.

Now, consider just how many people have died. They all lived incredible lives that impacted so many people around them. So many of them are a part of our own generation, or of a younger one. We may not have known or been able to relate to them, but they are no less important and we have no more of a right to security or an assurance to a tomorrow than they do.

These wars, which are truly over the same thing for each country, need to end.

Heartbreaking
